Employment and Training Program
In 1999, E Center responded to the need for appropriate higher skilled training positions for re-entry workers by becoming a contract provider to the California State Department of Rehabilitation. Through this contract, E Center offers employment and training opportunities to clients of the Mendocino County Mental Health Department and Department of Rehabilitation. Clients must be referred by their counselor and a training program is set up to meet the clients needs. Training positions are part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and typically last 3 to 6 months. Minimum wage is paid to all trainees and they are considered an E Center employee during their training period. Training positions are currently offered in the areas of Accounting, Graphic Design, Information Systems, and Office Administration.
Melody Valles is the Employment and Training Program Coordinator and has led the program since 2007. Current and former clients agree that E Center provides an easy-going learning environment and the opportunity to put this recent training on their resume.
